Hi! We're the mother and daughter behind the Gathered. Here, we weave moments of connection and renewal, breathing life into gatherings that uplift spirits and create lasting memories
Surrounded by their loved ones, Victoria and Cameron were married on a beautiful bright August day. With the blush pink tones, the notes of pastel and warm soft touches this beautiful wedding is straight out of a bridal magazine. Victoria and Cam’s wedding was personal and dreamy and we are so grateful to them for choosing us to celebrate their day! We hope you enjoy their re-telling of their beautiful wedding day – it truly was a wedding to behold.
What advice would you give to couples in the planning process?
Make a decision and move on! Don’t keep second-guessing your decisions. Once you have decided, book your vendor, ensure your vision can come to life, then move on to the next thing on your list. The worst thing you can do is keep making changes until the last minute because you saw something new on Pinterest or just never finalize anything due to indecisiveness. Trust your gut, then check it off the list!
What did you love about having your wedding at The Gathered?
First of all, the wonderful team. The Gathered has an amazing team and that makes you feel like you are part of the family. Alysa and Elaine were absolute angels and so accommodating of all my requests. They really have a dream team. Also, the scenery and atmosphere make you feel like you could live out all your Anne of Green Gable fantasies. It is impossible not to feel relaxed the moment you set foot at The Gathered. Finally, the food. Nearly a year later, I still have friends and family raving about the amazing food at our wedding. Everyone said to me after the event it was the best meal at a wedding they have ever had. Hint: Potato salad!!
What were some of your favourite moments of the day?
One of my favourite moments of the day was after the ceremony during cocktail hour. We had our DJ play only 90s hip-hop music and I loved watching everyone enjoy the lawn games while busting a move to some classic tunes. Another amazing moment was at twilight, my photographer whisked my husband and I away and caught some amazing photos of us in the sunset. Not only were these great photos, but it allowed us to step away from the party and enjoy a moment to reflect on the day so far and the fact that wow, we are married!
What are some tips to keep in mind while planning an outdoor wedding?
My suggestion would be to plan for any kind of weather! We prepared ourselves by having blankets ready at the ceremony location so that if it got chilly, our guests could choose to wrap up and better enjoy the ceremony. We also bought fans for everyone to be used inside the tent, and even served as a cute little wedding favour at the end of the day. It was also an extremely windy day, so make sure your MOH is ready to hold your veil once you get to the arch. That way you don’t have your veil swinging in your face! You can’t control the weather, but you can make sure you are prepared as possible! I would also like to suggest you find a wedding photographer who is good at manipulating light. My wedding photographer Kaity Body was so masterful at capturing all the light of the different times of the day.
What is the one thing that surprised you?
We did not have what people would consider a huge wedding, so I was a bit concerned that there would not be enough people to occupy the dance floor. Boy was I wrong! Once dancing started up after our first dance, the dance floor was busy until lights out. Find yourself a DJ that can read the crowd and you will not have any problem with keeping the party going.
At the Gathered our desire is to offer a place of peace and hope. We believe in serving our community through purposeful life-giving events. Our heart is to create room at the table for everyone's story.
