We are honoured to be featuring the wedding of Imogen and Geoff. The bold burgundy tones, the flowers and grey skies made the perfect backdrop for this outdoor wedding!

They have become dear friends of ours and all our staff knows and loves them. We are always excited to have Imogen and Geoff at any of our events.

WHAT DID YOU LOVE ABOUT HAVING YOUR WEDDING AT THE GATHERED FARM?

Everything. The venue was the most beautiful and peaceful place I’ve ever been. Seriously I swear there’s like a sudden calmness and tranquillity that you feel the moment you step foot there. The food was out of this world and let me just say that everything tastes even better than it looks! Additionally, the staff were absolutely incredible.

Alysa and Elaine made the whole process an absolute dream- whenever we came for a meeting we were always so excited to see them and the rest of the family. If we could do it all over again we wouldn’t change a thing. We feel so blessed to have been able to get married at The Gathered. Thank you!

What are some things to keep in mind when planning an outdoor wedding?

It’s important to know that the weather has a mind of its own and there’s no way to guarantee anything. All you can do is prepare for a few different scenarios and hope for the best! Just know that no matter what happens, if you’ve booked the right venue- the weather will never be an issue no matter how it goes. There was no need to stress because we knew that there was a great backup location in the tent if we weren’t able to have our ceremony outside.

WAS THERE A SPECIFIC WAY YOU HANDLED THE NERVES OF AN OUTDOOR WEDDING?

We made an effort to steer clear of the forecast in the days leading up to our wedding. The forecast had been changing day to day, one day it called for cold rain, and the next it would say it was going to be sunny. Eventually, we realized it was better for us to just have a rain plan and a sun plan. Also, we knew no matter what happened that we were at such a beautiful venue where the staff goes above and beyond so we didn’t have any worries.

WAS THERE A VISION YOU WERE WORKING TOWARDS FOR THE BIG DAY? 

We really wanted our big day to be full of lots of love, appreciating the gorgeous scenery (we really wanted to showcase how gorgeous the prairies are), and good food!  Our guests are still talking about how beautiful the venue was, how much they loved the lawn games (especially giant Jenga) and how much they loved the food- especially the warm potato salad. That is a game-changer.

WHAT WERE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENTS OF THE DAY?

It’s so hard to narrow your favourite day down to a favourite moment. I think one of them was when we were taking photos just the two of us. It was so magical to run around the beautiful property surrounded by beautiful flowers. Knowing that we were just married and that all of the people we loved were there waiting for us to join them in the tent after cocktail hour. 

DO YOU HAVE ONE SPECIFIC MEMORY THAT YOU WILL CHERISH AS A COUPLE?

One moment we’ll cherish was just looking around the tent at all the people we loved as we were all eating between speeches. It was incredible to realize that we’d just gotten married, that all the stress of planning a wedding was done, and that this was our time to just enjoy all this love with the people who mattered to us most. It was honestly incredible.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO COUPLES IN THE PLANNING PROCESS?

Breathe! If you’re feeling stressed, just remember you’re not alone in the process and thousands of other brides and grooms can relate. If it’s any consolation, the stress melts away the moment you see your significant other on the other end of the aisle.

IS THERE SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR WEDDING PEOPLE KEEP TALKING ABOUT?

How beautiful the venue was and how amazing the food was! Seriously- we were at dinner the other day when someone brought up the warm potato salad at our wedding. It was honestly incredible. People loved the outdoor wedding and the laid back and gorgeous vibe to the venue- it really allowed for everyone to feel themselves and feel at home while celebrating.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT SURPRISED YOU?

I was surprised that there was a washroom in the Bridal Cottage! I hadn’t thought to look so when I got to the venue I made someone tell Geoff to hide so I could sneak to the main washroom without him seeing me… Poor guy just stood alone in a field with his back turned for a few minutes haha! It could’ve been avoided but then again, it does make for a funny memory for the both of us.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF?

A practical thing that we wished we did when collecting RSVP’s on our wedding website was collecting email addresses at the same time. In regards to how the actual day went, we wouldn’t change a thing.
