Hi! We're the mother and daughter behind the Gathered. Here, we weave moments of connection and renewal, breathing life into gatherings that uplift spirits and create lasting memories
I was looking at photos from this Eco-Friendly styled shoot that was done a few seasons ago and I realized this was the perfect setup for an intimate wedding! Nowadays wedding conversations are geared around the pandemic. There are so many ways you can go, postpone, elope, wait it out. It is truly a heartbreaking decision to make.
Although we could have lots to say, in our opinion at the end of the day, you need to feel at peace about your decision whatever that might be.
So here is a beautiful shoot that was designed as an Eco-friendly/Zero waste wedding. It also just happens to be a great depiction of a gorgeous intimate wedding.
The Styled Shoot
The goal of this styled shoot was to produce zero waste, the idea was to see the amount of garbage left at the end of the day. Although I didn’t include a picture it was only a handful of pieces! Each vendor kept this in mind while bringing this styled shoot together.
You can see the gorgeous earthly elements, bits of driftwood, planted flowers and tin cans. There are so many items that can be reused and repurposed into gorgeous decor if you think outside the box. Planter boxes were full of a variety of flowers, greens or herbs. The creative options are really unlimited you just need to be willing to take a bit of a risk.
I really love the use of china – most of us have our mother’s or grandma’s china available to use. It adds a sweetness and vintage element that pairs nicely with the more rustic elements. When decor contrasts it makes for a gorgeous setting.
An Intimate Wedding
The benefit of having a smaller intimate wedding is the ability to focus on more of the details. Is it necessary? Definitely not, but it does provide a way for you to use your deposits and gives you a gorgeous wedding.
Prior to the pandemic, we were noticing a trend towards smaller weddings. It really allows you to have those people closest to you with a lowkey relaxed environment. You can focus on a slow multi-course dinner surrounded by great conversation and community. Some of our favourite weddings over the past few years have been the smaller weddings that really have a purpose behind them.
Dealing with all the uncertainty and the variety of restrictions more couples are moving forward with an intimate wedding. The focus shifting from the large reception to a more relaxed vibe. I really think this is an amazing way to celebrate and as I said before these small weddings create a powerful impact but with less.
