A June Day

black and white photo of a couple dancing in a fiel

Matt and Niki were married on a beautiful June day! As the day progressed the weather went from sunny to cloudy with bits of rain but that didn’t dampen their spirits. They handled the weather changes wonderfully and finished the day dancing under a globe-lit sky. Read below Niki’s tips for planning a June wedding.

“The venue was absolutely stunning. The colours in the pictures are so amazing it’s like a postcard. The atmosphere, the food and the service was second to none”

WHAT ARE SOME TIPS FOR PLANNING AN OUTDOOR WEDDING?

Shoe selection for sure. I wore cowboy boots under my dress as I felt they would suit the venue, plus I knew they would be safe to walk in for the ceremony. It was so nice to have turf in the tent which made it easy for guests wearing heels. Also, take into consideration that it might rain like it did on our June day. I didn’t go crazy with decorations for the arbour or ceremony area in case we got rained on, which we did but it was nice to not have to worry about moving and cleaning up a lot of decor off the arbour.

HOW DID YOU HANDLE THE NERVES OF AN OUTDOOR WEDDING?

You just have to go with the flow. Only worry about things you can control and the weather is not one of them. I just had the attitude and thought process of being prepared for rain in June and if it doesn’t great, if it does we will get some spectacular photos which we did! All that matters at the end of the day is that all of your friends and family are there with you on your special day.

WAS THERE A VISION YOU WERE WORKING TOWARDS FOR THE BIG DAY?

Our main vision for the big day was to just enjoy the company and the presence of all of our friends and family. We were also very much looking forward to the food! We read so many positive reviews of the home-style cooking at The Gathered so I was super pumped for dinner.

WHAT WERE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENTS OF THE DAY?

We have a few favourite moments; The ceremony for sure! Elaine put such a beautiful personal touch on our vows. Dinner as well, the food was to die for and we are still hearing from guests how much they loved the food. Also watching the guests play the lawn games. We didn’t bring any of our own but the ones The Gathered provided were perfect.

DO YOU HAVE ONE SPECIFIC MEMORY THAT YOU WILL CHERISH AS A COUPLE?

I think the feeling we both got when we saw each other for the first time right before the ceremony. It still gives us goosebumps to think about it. It was such an incredible moment knowing what was about to happen. The look on both of our faces said it all. Our photographer captured that moment perfectly!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO COUPLES IN THE PLANNING PROCESS?

Relax!

Relax and enjoy every moment. Everyone told us the day would fly by and it truly did. Don’t sweat the small stuff and just go with the flow. We didn’t stress about any minor details and the day went just seemingly. I started collecting decorations about 6 months before the wedding and that really helped to be ahead of the game that way. I had all vendors booked and lined up a few months in advance as well. Hiccups will happen but don’t let them stress you out, at the end of the day the small stuff won’t matter.

IS THERE SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR WEDDING PEOPLE KEEP TALKING ABOUT?

The venue and the food. We feel incredibly special to have found The Gathered just by doing a google search on rustic outdoor venue’s. They did such an amazing job of ensuring everything was perfect on our special June wedding day. Every member of the staff was so lovely to work with. The venue is so beautiful! The feeling you get just walking onto the property is heartfelt.

WHAT IS THE ONE THING THAT SURPRISED YOU?

How fast the day flew by. I wish I could do it all over again. It was truly the best day of our lives.

WHAT DID YOU LOVE ABOUT HAVING YOUR WEDDING AT THE GATHERED FARM?

The venue was absolutely stunning. The colours in the pictures are so amazing it’s like a postcard. The atmosphere, the food and the service was second to none. Everyone who played a part on our June wedding day from The Gathered team made everything just perfect. You definitely get a different feel compared to a hotel venue where the staff aren’t the owners and all family. It was beautiful, I am forever grateful we found The Gathered and cherish the memories we made there.
