Hi! We're the mother and daughter behind the Gathered. Here, we weave moments of connection and renewal, breathing life into gatherings that uplift spirits and create lasting memories
“All our guests can talk about is how beautiful the venue was, how fun the games were and how AMAZING the food was!”
Petra and Jordan’s wedding was surrounded by family, friends and pink skies! The day was full of emotion, changing weather patterns and so much love.
Over the years I have never seen a display of skies quite like this. Amazing pink skies, rainbows and storm clouds adorned the horizon making their wedding day truly magical. It was truly spectacular. Read below as they share their experiences of having an outdoor wedding, and be sure to scroll to the end to see the amazing storm clouds and creamy pink skies in August.
WHAT ARE SOME TIPS OR THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND WHILE PLANNING AN OUTDOOR WEDDING?
Make sure the venue has an alternate location indoors in case of rain! Also, invest in some clear umbrellas for your wedding party in case it rains. – remember rain is good luck and overcast makes for amazing photos!
WAS THERE A VISION YOU WERE WORKING TOWARDS FOR THE BIG DAY?
We didn’t want a super cookie-cutter formal wedding. We wanted all of our friends and family to enjoy each other’s company and socialize. The games at our venue set the mood perfectly!
WHAT WERE SOME OF YOUR FAVOURITE MOMENTS OF THE DAY?
Watching all my guests arriving at our venue in awe of how beautiful it was. I was hiding in the bridal cottage so it was amazing to see their real reaction. Our photographers had so much fun they decided to hang out and enjoy the party after photos and it was so fun! We actually did have rain on our wedding day, and I loved being able to get some intimate shots in the rain while the sun was setting and pink skies appeared. Finally, no one stopped dancing the entire night! Our DJ did such an amazing job the dance floor was full right to the end.
DO YOU HAVE ONE SPECIFIC MEMORY THAT YOU WILL CHERISH AS A COUPLE?
My father passed away 3 weeks before my wedding. As soon as we finished our vows we saw a rainbow in the background, it really made us feel that my dad was still there with us.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO COUPLES IN THE PLANNING PROCESS?
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Leading up to the wedding I was focused on every little detail but when the big day came I was only focused on my husband. I completely forgot to do a bouquet toss, some of the candles burnt out during the rain and my dress was covered in leaves and dirt by the end of the night. No one cared by that point. They were all just having such a great time enjoying each other’s company and celebrating our day.
IS THERE SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR WEDDING PEOPLE KEEP TALKING ABOUT?
They keep talking about our venue actually (nothing about my husband and I – ugh haha. All our guests can talk about is how beautiful the venue was, how fun the games were and how AMAZING the food was!
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WISH YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF?
I wish I had a bustle put on my dress. Especially with an outdoor wedding, it was difficult having my train drag on the ground.
I also wish we had done a first look BEFORE the ceremony. Seeing my husband’s reaction at the end of the aisle was amazing, but as soon as you say I do you are swept away for photos with your family and wedding party. A first look would before the ceremony would have allowed us time alone to enjoy before we were surrounded by friends and family.
WHAT DID YOU LOVE ABOUT HAVING YOUR WEDDING AT THE GATHERED FARM?
EVERYTHING – they literally think of everything you could possibly need. The food options are absolutely amazing and they had something for every budget. The lawn games and decor options are amazing add-ons that most other venues would charge for, and the staff are absolutely amazing! I mean our bartender actually gave one of our guests a pair of his own dress pants when he ripped his while tearing up the dance floor. ?I cannot say enough amazing things about The Gathered!
At the Gathered our desire is to offer a place of peace and hope. We believe in serving our community through purposeful life-giving events. Our heart is to create room at the table for everyone's story.
